Proper Storage of Oxbow's Critical Care recovery diets is dictated by the ingredients used in each formulation type. Regardless of variety, All unopened Critical Care packets undergo shelf-life testing to ensure they remain stable and effective until they reach the "best by" date printed on the package.
Note: Oxbow has not performed any testing on the efficacy, stability or safety of any of our Critical Care varieties utilized past their expiration date or stored in a manner other than directed (i.e. frozen/thawed). Therefore, we cannot guarantee any product stored/utilized in this manner.
- Critical Care - Herbivore and Critical Care - Herbivore - Fine Grind
- Packets (opened or unopened) should always be stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight
- When stored appropriately, unopened packets are viable until the "best by" date printed on the packet
- Once opened, the powdered product remains viable for a full 90-days. Keep packets sealed tightly or store the powder in a clean, airtight container.
- Once the powder has been reconstituted, the mix should be stored in the refrigerator in a clean, airtight container and utilized within 24 hours.
- Any product not used within 24 hours should be discarded
- Any refrigerated, pre-mixed product should be brought to room temperature before administering it to your pet
- Critical Care - Omnivore
- Packets (opened or unopened) should always be stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight
- When stored appropriately, unopened packets are viable until the "best by" date printed on the packet
- Once opened, the powdered product remains viable for a full 60-days. Keep packets sealed tightly or store the powder in a clean, airtight container.
- Once the powder has been reconstituted, the mix should be stored in the refrigerator in a clean, airtight container and utilized within 24 hours.
- Any product not used within 24 hours should be discarded
- Any refrigerated, pre-mixed product should be brought to room temperature before administering it to your pet
- Oxbow Critical Care - Carnivore
- Unopened packets should always be stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.
- When stored appropriately, unopened packets are viable until the "best by" date printed on the packet
- Once opened, the powdered product must be tightly sealed within the original packaging (or in a separate, clean, airtight container) within the refrigerator
- Due to the whole, high-quality, high-protein, high-fat ingredients, this product must be utilized within 30 days of opening
- Once the powder has been reconstituted, the mix should be stored in the refrigerator in a clean, airtight container and utilized within 24 hours.
- Any product not used within 24 hours should be discarded
- Any refrigerated, pre-mixed product should be brought to room temperature before administering it to your pet
