Every rabbit is an individual, so pellet consumption for young rabbits (under 12 months old) will vary. We suggest feeding an "unlimited" volume of pellets during this stage of rapid maturation, but this does not mean filling the bowl up to the top and leaving it for your little one to gorge on. We suggest the following tactic when feeding your young bunny pal:

  1. Start by adding 1/8 - 1/4 cup of food to your kiddo's dish in the morning 
  2. Check the food dish mid-day/early evening to determine if a refill is needed
  3. Ideally, there will always be approximately 1/8 - 1/4  cup of food in the dish at all times

For young rabbits, loose alfalfa hay, as well as a variety of grass hays, should always be available to provide necessary fiber, appropriately support your little one’s digestive system, and encourage natural foraging behavior.  For more information on properly feeding young guinea pigs, please follow the links below:
